Actor Daniel Wu and author Vincent Yee, along with the WuKong Judge Team, carefully selected 21 finalists from a myriad of touching submissions. &#8220;Fleeting Memory Lasting Love&#8221; by Enya Yu, aged 10, has been honored with the &#8220;Future Writer Award.&#8221; Enya&#8217;s narrative invites us into the world of her memories, capturing the essence of fleeting moments and enduring love. Take a moment to be inspired by her incredible story, offering a glimpse into global Chinese experiences.<\/blockquote>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25263 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-more.wukongedu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/\u97f3\u4e501.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1093\" height=\"685\" \/>\r\n\r\nMusic have always been a part of my life, from when I was a little kid in suburban Chicago playing a basic song on the piano, to an elementary-school kid wheezing on a cheap recorder, to strumming a chord on a guitar for the \ufb01rst time and becoming the instrument-wielding band kid I am today.\r\n\r\nI\u00a0\u00a0remember\u00a0\u00a0a\u00a0\u00a0memory\u00a0\u00a0whose\u00a0\u00a0signi\ufb01cance\u00a0\u00a0is\u00a0\u00a0beyond\u00a0\u00a0description. \u00a0It\u00a0\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0\u00a0my\u00a0\u00a0fondest memory, nor my earliest, but it\u2019s the type of memory that just resonates with you, stays with you for years, and the type that you can never forget but you cannot explain. It is a Chinese lullaby. Under the cold air of the spring night and the silvery light of the moon, a low and clear melody cuts through the chirping of cicadas.\r\n\r\n\u201c\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u8361\u8d77\u53cc\u6868\uff0c\u5c0f\u8239\u513f\u63a8\u5f00\u6ce2\u6d6a\uff0c\r\n\r\n\u6c34\u9762\u5012\u5f71\u7740\u7f8e\u4e3d\u7684\u767d\u5854\uff0c\u56db\u5468\u73af\u7ed5\u7740\u7eff\u6811\u7ea2\u5899\u3002\u201d\r\n\r\nIt was a song I got lost in, and I could feel every aspect of the memory when I heard it,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0whenever my dad sang me to sleep after along daywhen I was a child. It wasn\u2019t just notes, it wasn\u2019t just about a little rowboat on a lake, surrounded by beauty, trees, and walls and that white tower re\ufb02ected in the crystal-clearwater. It meant memories. It meant safety, a time of calmness after along tempest. It meant the sky, the stars and a warm embrace.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25264 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-more.wukongedu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/\u97f3\u4e50.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"882\" height=\"573\" \/>\r\n\r\nOne night, so many days, months, and years, after that beautiful memory, it wasn\u2019t nearly as peaceful as it was that day with the cold air, clear sky, and full moon. It was sti\ufb02ingly hot in such a sunless summer with clouds blocking out all the stars I had always longed to reach. The world was silent except for sobs and the ringing of texts on my phone.\r\n\r\nOnce again, I had quarreled with my friends\u2014and this one seemed worse than all the petty debates about instruments, pets, the relentless game of he-said-she said, and the blame always being passed around; no, this one had resorted to genuine anger, to caps-lock yelling and cold, icy rage.\r\n\r\nI stepped outside onto the driveway, into the night air, hoping it would help me think, and found myself staring at that same night sky\u2014years had passed, yet there were still the same stars, like tiny little beacons against the unwelcoming black silk of sky.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.pixabay.com\/photo\/2014\/09\/19\/00\/21\/full-moon-451605_1280.jpg\" alt=\"Free Full Moon Moon photo and picture\" \/>\r\n\r\nI wondered what the point was \u2026 just \ufb01ghting this battle I would never win, against my friends, and against myself. What was the end goal, if eventually, I would lose everyone? Why did I still try, if it wasn\u2019t worth it in the end, when I would still lose friends, gain enemies, and when life was a downward spiral to negativity?\r\n\r\nI took a breath, looked up at those stars and the half-moon hanging heavily in the distance, and listened to the silence and the occasional car whizzing past the warm night airon the cracked asphalt roads.\r\n\r\nFeeling the serenity of\u00a0the moment and the\u00a0calm\u00a0breaking\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0shattering\u00a0sense\u00a0of\u00a0self-doubt, of\u00a0doubt\u00a0in\u00a0general, I\u00a0looked\u00a0towards\u00a0the\u00a0sky,\u00a0and\u00a0I\u00a0began\u00a0to\u00a0sing\u00a0\u2026\r\n\r\nAnd\u00a0I\u00a0lost\u00a0myself\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0peace\u00a0of\u00a0that\u00a0Chinese\u00a0lullaby.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25587 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-more.wukongedu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/A-Musical-Journey-Through-Memories.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"750\" \/>\r\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"summary\"><\/span>Summary<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\nThank you for immersing yourself in &#8220;Fleeting Memory Lasting Love,&#8221; a poignant exploration of memories and enduring love by the talented 10-year-old writer, Enya Yu.
